Life as we know it

// June 10th, 2010 // No Comments » // General, Home

Is about to change. After almost three years of living in our house they are finally building on one of the empty lots next to us. As weird as it will be to have a house next to us we are very excited about not dealing with all of the weeds coming from the empty lot. Things seem to be moving right along with it, one day they dug the hole, the next day they built the layout for the foundation, and then they poured the foundation. Can’t wait to go home today and see what they have done. Craig was able to find out that it will be the same model as our house, but it won’t have the same elevation and the layout is opposite ours. Just hope that their house is up far enough so we aren’t looking into each other’s kitchen or dining room windows.

On another note, Craig had another doctor’s appointment yesterday and wasn’t too happy to find out that he will need to do another six weeks of physical therapy. He still has swelling around his knee and his quad muscle isn’t back to full strength yet. Fingers cross that this will be his last round of PT and that the pain will all go away soon.

Another Knee Update

I’m happy to report that Craig is nicely recovering from his knee surgery. On Saturday he had a bit of a set back when Kacey decided she just had to see what the delivery woman had brought for Craig to open. Unfortunately neither of us remembered to keep her away from his leg so she managed to put her paw right in the middle of all his sutures. It caused so much pain that even the pain meds weren’t helping.

When the pain didn’t go away on Sunday he was worried that the tendon had been ruptured, so he called his doctor who assured him that as long as he was able to lift his leg that it was probably just irritated. By Monday afternoon the pain had gone down quite a bit and today he is moving around a lot better. He has an appointment next Wednesday to have the sutures removed and we are both hoping that this will be the end of all his pain. I’d like to send a big, big thank you out to Don, Pete & Mom for all of the last minute help in getting mom out to the house to take care of Craig this week.

Knee Update

Craig's Knee

It has been about a month since Craig started his physical therapy for issue with his knee and unfortunately he said that it’s more painful now than it was before he started. You can see where the “crack” is in his x-ray. The doctor told him that it’s common for this to happen but it’s not common for the piece to be so long.

He had a follow up appointment with the doctor last Friday and has been put on an additional type of PT for two more weeks. I’m not exactly sure what it’s called, but I know it involves wires and a device that has a dial that goes from 1 to 4. The doctor took his x-ray to the surgeon, who said that he would not touch it and that he should see a surgeon that specializes in knee injuries. So after the two weeks of PT he will have to get an MRI done so a different surgeon can look at it and see what has to be done. We will let everyone know when we know more.

Changing Again

// March 10th, 2010 // No Comments » // General

Just like any female I change my mind, a lot. I have again changed my mind about our website. It is always a problem for me to determine what direction to take our website. I’m always wondering if I should keep it online, if I should keep it only personal or make it personal and creative. I know, the things I have to worry about.

While browsing my hosting control panel I saw that I had the option to register an additional domain for free. So I began playing around with possible site names and as luck would have it the one I wanted was available. I was excited to get things going on my new site, but as fate would have it, it got put on the back burner and it wasn’t until I got the email to let me know that it was expiring that I got the urge again to get it online. Of course I would first have to decide if it was worth keeping it. After talking with Craig we decided to re-register the name and see what I could do with it.

What does that mean for CK Central? CK Central will go back to just being our personal website. So you’ll be able to read about and see photos of our crazy adventures through life. Assuming that I update the site on a regular basis. If you want to see all of the crafty stuff that I am doing or have done you will need to go to the new website at… www.karenasdesign.com. Hope to see you there!

Yay for Us

I know that this is a very small feat, but you know it’s the little things that matter the most! You might be asking yourself, what is it that she is so excited about?, my response to that would be “It’s all about the lights!”.

Taking full advantage of the wonderful weather we had this weekend Craig & I were able to get our Christmas lights up on the front of the house, of course they won’t be turned on until the day after Thanksgiving, but just the fact that we were able to get them up without freezing is enough to make me happy!

We also decided to replace last year’s lights with LED lights in hopes to keep the electric bill at a minimum. I’m still not sure how I’m going to feel about the bluish hue our cool white lights will have compared to the warm white ones, but since we couldn’t find the icicle lights in warm white we had to go with the cool white. I suppose we can go back to regular lights next year if I don’t like them. :)
