and I’m a slacker. Yes I admit it, I’m a slacker, a procrastinator, a delayer of tasks or whatever else you would like to call it. It is evident right here at our blog. How sad is it that the last post I made was in June??!! It’s almost the end of October!! The worse thing about it is it’s not like things haven’t been happening.. they have, but I apparently can’t find the time to update. Shoot I’m not even sure anybody even visits the site anymore. UGH.
Well for those of you remotely interested here is a bit about what has been going on here in our little world.
1. With the price of gas being so high we had a low key summer. We spent most of our time decorating the house and keeping the landscaping in order. Craig was such a great daddy to our new rose bushes. We were fearful that they would die from our inexperience but they are thriving. He did have problems with the Japanese beetles, but the roses are still blooming today. There is nothing better than the smell of fresh roses. We did manage to have a few BBQ’s with everyone and even got introduced to Baggo.
2. August 30 marked the 1 year anniversary of being in our new home. We celebrated by adding some “color” to the walls. We were lucky enough to find a great painter on Craigslist. We were so happy with the work that he did that we plan on having him finish the last 4 rooms once we have the colors figured out. If you need a painter his you can find our guy here.
3. September 26 marked our 10 year wedding anniversary. Who knew that it would go by so fast. Since neither of us had been to downtown Chicago in awhile we figured it would be a great place to go to celebrate. I found out the Navy Pier was going to have fireworks that night which made it even better. While I was at work Craig arranged to have 3 flower arrangements sent to me, each one with a part to a message. Unforunately they didn’t exactly come in the right order, but the thought behind it was sweet. I found a tutorial on how to make paper fortune cookies and thought it would be cute to put memories from our relationship as the fortunes. On our 2 hour trip to the city he opened the cookies and we had a great time talking about the “fortunes”. All in all it was an incredible day. We are looking forward to many more years together.
4. Craig applied for and was offered a new job at the school district. He is now the Network Infrastructure Manager. He is currently working at SHS during the morning and then the District office in the afternoon. He will continue with that schedule until he helps hire his replacement at SHS. Unfortunately he is still in the uncertain area of taking a new job, but is hoping that that feeling will go away soon. I don’t think he has anything to worry about. He is smarter than he gives himself credit for, in my opinion.
