Gone so soon?

// April 25th, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Home, News

Well, our in-ground pool is gone as fast as it came. We drove by the house to see if anything new had happened and of course it had. They have the footing of the house poured. It seems that everything is going so fast, but I’m sure that it’s typical. I can only imagine the organization needed to make sure that everything gets done. I for one plan on making frequent trips to make sure that things are going OK.

On the old home front, we had another showing last night, but never received any feedback from our realtor so we are assuming that it didn’t go well. Bummer.

OK… who moved our dirt!!!

This weekend we made plans to meet up with Pete, Kelly, Devin & Logan for dinner, since they were coming our way, (well close at least) I asked if they wanted to go over to the models with us. We gave them a tour of our future home along with one of the other models, which Pete seemed to like more than ours. :unsure_tb: After the tour we decided to take them over to our neighborhood so they could be oohed and aahed by our dirt. As we turned the corner we noticed that there seemed to be new dirt piles on our lot. When we got closer we noticed that they had began to dig the hole for our house! We were excited and confused. We thought that they were going to call us to let us know when they broke ground, but we were glad that they had started. There are a few photos in our photo gallery.

Oi.. I keep forgetting to congratulate Justin and his bowling team on taking first place in their league. Great job boys!!!

Bomb Scare

I’m not sure if it has been on the news, but if it has been I wanted to let everyone know that Craig is OK. After some suspicious activity from a few students, who have been arrested, the building was evacuated as a precaution. The authorites went through the building and didn’t find anything. The students were allowed to go home and the staff attended an all staff meeting to discuss what measures were being taken to maintain a safe enviroment for everyone. School will go on tomorrow as normal along with the presence of uniformed police.

First Showing

Craig & I have been a bit irritated with the way our home selling has been going. To start the house was listed without a description or photos for at least 4 days. I know when we were looking at homes we wouldn’t even get a home without photos a thought and I’m sure that most people feel that way. Then the photos were showing at our realtors company site, but not at realtor.com, which in my opinon is what most buyers would be using. All that aside yesterday was our realtor walk-through. We were told it went well, everyone seemed to think that it showed well and they all loved the back yard. When we got home there were 15 cards from different realtors on the table, not sure why they were left, but it’s nice to know that at least someone came out to see our home.

That was not end of the excitement for us. While we were eating dinner we got a phone call to let us know that they wanted to show the house between 6 & 7. We were excited and confused. We knew not to get our hopes up, so we were just happy with the fact that someone wanted to see it. So we got the pups in the truck and went for a drive. The whole time we were thinking about what kind of feedback we would get, we feared that they would think it was too small. After an hour we got back to the house and a few minutes later we got a call from our realtor. She told us that she liked the inside, love, love, loved the back, but couldn’t get past the look of the front of the house. UGH!! How sad is that, the one thing that we have the least amount of control over is going to end up being the one thing that will hold us back from selling. Craig keeps reassuring me that just like me there will be someone else out there that likes the front as much as I did when we purchased the home. Let’s hope he’s right!!

Phew.. is it September yet?

I’m amazed at how much has happened since I last posted about starting the process to sell our house. I’m sure that everyone knows that after a bit of looking at homes on the market in our price range we decided it would be in our best interest to have a home built. With all of the current incentives it was silly not to have one built. As luck would have it one of the communities in our price range was the same one that our friend Katie & Jon already lived in, so it was an added bonus. Of course when we started the process of building a new home we had no clue how much work it would be. Katie & Jon tried to prepare us for it, but it was still a bit overwhelming. The one thing that made me never want to build our own home was the one thing that Craig seemed to love about it. All in all it is exciting to know that our new home will be the way we want it to be.

For those interested I have added a page called New Home where I will jot down all of the exciting things that happen during the process of our new home build.
