About Us
Hello, my name is Karen and I am the webmaster here at CK Central. I am married to a wonderful man, Craig. The story of how we met is actually ironic. At the time we met I lived in the city with my sister and her boyfriend and Craig lived in the suburbs with his brother. On night while I was getting ready to go out I decided to sign on to AOL to see if any of my friends were online. The next thing I knew I was being instant messenged by biscuitz28. I thought who is this.. and what kind of screenname is that.. of course I shouldn’t really talk my screenname was karebare5, so I decided to say “hi”. We ended up talking for a few minutes about life and dating. Before we signed off Craig asked for my phone number and thinking that he’d never call anyways.. I gave it to him! A couple of days later he called and we talked for two hours every night for a week before we decided that we should met.
We met for dinner at Bennigan’s and when I saw him he was the typical suburban boy, you know fast car.. preppy clothes. I on the other hand was a typical rocker chick.. black suede vest.. black jeans and boots. My immediate thought was there is no way that we are going to make it through the night.. we were too different. After dinner we went are seperate ways with me thinking I would never hear from him again and then 2 days later he called to find out if I wanted to come over and watch the football game with him and his brother. We have been inseperable ever since.
On our 6 month anniversary Craig proposed. It was very romantic. He made dinner reservations at a fancy restuarant and told me that afterwards we would meet up with his brother at a jazz club. So when his pager went off and he got up to call his brother I didn’t think it was odd. When he came back to the table he had this weird look on his face, but sat and told me that the plans were still on for the jazz club. Next thing I knew he was on one knee right there in the middle of the restuarant with a box in one hand.. fighting back tears he asked me to marry him. I of course said yes, when we kissed everyone there started clapping. After a few minutes of adjustment the wait staff came over to check out my ring and the manager sent over champagne and strawberries. It was such a great moment. We were married about a year and half later on a very hot day in September in a quaint little church in Long Grove, Illinois.
We are currently living in Pingree Grove, Illinois. We spend most of our spare time playing with our dogs, visiting with family and friends and playing on the computer. Oddly enough we both work for a local high school district. Craig is a Network Infrastructure Manager at the Administration Center, while I’m a Network Technician at one of the high schools.
Since we still aren’t sure about having children we decided to add to our family in another way. Our first addition was Kacey, she is a fawn colored Pug. When we got her she was so small she could fit into your hand and she was very fiesty, now she is a larger, calmer version of her former self. She is so lovable it’s almost funny. Whenever someone comes over she immediately flops onto her back in front of them so they can rub her belly. Of course thinking that we did not have enough goofiness in the house with one pup we decided that we would get another Pug to keep Kacey company. After weeks of looking for a black colored Pug we finally found Savannah on a farm in the middle of no where in Indiana. She was the one that nobody wanted to take because she wasn’t a small little puppy, but Craig & I thought that she was perfect, so we brought her home and she immediately feel in love with Kacey. I’m sure there are times that Kacey wishes we didn’t have another dog, but they are so cute, we couldn’t imagine not having them both.
I’m not quite sure what the future holds for us, but I’m sure that we will have fun getting there!
